PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program
Happy Healthy Smiles for Children
PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program (PRASAD CDHP) offices are located in the town of Liberty in Sullivan County, New York State. Just 2.5 hours northwest of New York City, it is a world apart. Home to the Catskill Mountains, family farms, and rural, small-town America, it is beautiful and verdant.
Sullivan County has also been listed among the least healthy counties in New York State because of the lack of public transportation, persistent poverty, high levels of unemployment and disability, and limited access to healthcare, dental care included. The poverty rate is 13.3%, higher than the U.S. national average of 12.8%.
The cost of dental care is out of reach for many Sullivan County residents, and transportation is complicated. Our dental program delivers services via a state-of-the-art mobile dental clinic right at public school campuses, making it easy for children and parents alike. We chose this service delivery approach because of Sullivan County’s rural nature and the lack of public transportation.
To raise awareness and ensure access to dental education and care for children at risk, PRASAD CDHP partners with Social Services, Sullivan County Public Health Services, Head Start programs, and local agencies that provide referrals for children in need of dental care. The mobile dental clinic also parks at our offices during the summer and school holidays for children to receive year-round dental treatment.
PRASAD CDHP is an Article 28 NYS Department of Health-certified clinic approved to operate at New York State schools. A certified, school-based health center is a safe, easily accessible location on a school campus where students can have a dental home and go for preventive and restorative care services.
Help children access better dental care
